Kinesis can offer you the following services:

Physiotherapy

Assessment and treatment from highly skilled chartered physiotherapists. Using extensive knowledge of anatomy, physiology and biomechanics you will be provided with a thorough analysis of your problem along with a treatment programme designed to include strategies for further prevention.

Sports Massage

Ideal for relieving muscular tension whether you are sports oriented or not!

Acupuncture

Used to treat a variety of injuries and pain syndromes based on both Eastern and Western philosophy, acupuncture can be administered as a treatment in its' own right or as part of a physiotherapy programme.

Reflextherapy

This treatment is based on the principle of reflexology but is administered by a trained medical practitioner such as a physiotherapist. It is a gentle method of treating imbalances within the body through stimulation of the corresponding reflex points on the feet. Used as both a treatment method and as a preventative and well-being measure, it is effective for many conditions.

Healthy back/body checks

Why wait until you have a problem? Come for a trouble-shooting assessment in which potential problem areas can be identified and strategies such as postural correction and home exercises can be implemented. This assessment session is particularly useful if you are considering resuming or taking up a new sport or activity.

Body MOT

Thinking of running a marathon this year? Going on a ski or snowboard trip? Come for a trouble-shooting assessment in which potential problem areas can be identified and strategies such as postural correction and home exercises can be implemented in order to get the maximum out of your training or holiday.

Postural education

Poor postural habits account for a large percentage of spinal and joint problems, causing overloading and wear and tear and making you more susceptible to injury. Let us assess and help you correct any dysfunction in order to deal with a current problem, or simply for future injury prevention.

Pilates & Yoga

Our Instructors work closely with the physios to meet patient’s specific treatment needs; whether that be to aid recovery from Low back pain or to maintain fitness during pregnancy. Small classes (no more than 3) or individual sessions allow for close monitoring and excellent results.

Ergonomic Assessments

Poor workstation set-ups both in the home and work environment can lead to bad postural habits, neck and back injury and repetitive strain. Have a qualified physiotherapist assess your workstation, implement and suggest changes and adapt your posture for longer- term health.

Homeo-cranial therapy

An effective  combination of Homeopathy and Craniosacral therapy developed and researched as a treatment by Hugh Harrison,  Visiting Homeopathic researcher at Southampton University and a tutor in Biodynamic Craniosacral therapy at the Karuna Institute in Dartmoor, is proving to be a valuable asset to Kinesis particularly in the treatment of mums and babies, pregnancy related conditions and chronic pain conditions including ME.

‘As you ought not to treat the eyes without the head or the head without the body, so neither ought you to treat the body without the soul. That is why the cure of many diseases is not known to the physicians of Helas because they are ignorant of the whole which ought to be studied also. For the part can never be well unless the whole is well.' Socrates 500 BC

The body connection

Your body can become painful for many reasons. At kinesis we assess your problem in detail to identify what is causing stress to the injured tissue or body part. We then address these factors as part of your treatment programme in order to treat the whole and not just the part.

The mind connection

Science is beginning to catch up with the wise Socrates and recognise the importance of the mind-body connection. Techniques such as developing mental strategies to deal with pain, or the frustration of forced rest due to an injury can have a positive effect on healing and rehabilitation. Negative emotions, through chemical release, can adversely affect pain states and healing. The sporting world has embraced these techniques as vital components of successful treatment. As experienced practitioners in sports medicine, at Kinesis we are aware of the value of such input, where appropriate, to facilitate recovery. All of our patients are as important to us as the elite athlete.
