Runner's Training Advice

For those of you getting fit for the Summer or a competition, follow our tips for injury free running;

  • Avoid running on concrete. It’s approximately 10 times as hard as tarmac. Woodchip is best, closely followed by even grass.
  • Although warming up prior to your run is not vital (as long as you ease in gently), stretching afterwards is, to maximise recovery and avoid injury.
  • Do not be a slave to your training log. If you are coming back from inury or have not covered as many miles as you would have liked, don't play catch-up now! You may have to adjust your expectations regarding time-related goals for the big day.
  • Pay attention to niggles and do not over-train. Recovery, particularly tapering for the last few weeks is essential to ensure that you are fit and raring to go on the start line.
  • And don't forget that we offer a runner's MOT to identify and deal with any potential injury problems along with an expert sports massage service to get you through those long runs.

New Fitness Facility in Twickenham!

We are delighted to announce the opening of our new studio space in Twickenham. Over 1000sq foot of beautifully reburbished space provides the ideal place for a personal training session, fitness, Yoga or Pilates class.

Showers and changing are provided; particularly useful if you are heading off to work after one of our early bird sessions.

We will also be offering dance and kick-boxing classes in the near future- watch this space!

Most classes (with the exception of beginners workshops and 3:1 sessions) run on a drop-in basis, no membership or up front fees!

We are also running health and wellbeing seminars in conjuction with Alana Mitchell of Global Lifestyle Harmony. Covering a range of topics from stress management to maximising your potential in life and business Alana is a specialist in her field.

STOP PRESS! New Clinic in Hammersmith!

Our third clinic has just opened in a beautiful location on the river at Furnivall Sculling Club in Hammersmith. We have a newly kitted treatment room with separate ‘rehabilitation space’ in which your physiotherapist will be able to develop your rehab exercise programme. Rebecca (Physiotherapist) and Jodie (sports rehabiliation specialist and Sports Massage Practitioner) are on hand to get your body functioning correctly and back to full fitness.

Yoga in Twickenham

Welcome to Tuesday McNeill and Marisol Kucharek, our super yoga teachers!

Tuesday offers small classes of no more than 3 people for maximum benefit. She has also brought 'resorative yoga' to us from the USA, an amazing technique for chronic pain conditions and powerful stress relief.

Marisol teaches an innavative fusion of yoga techniques which she describes as 'InsideOut Yoga - the intelligent yoga of mindfullnessinmovement'. We recommend that you attend her beginners' workshop if you are new to yoga or a little rusty! Classes (max of 12) are available from early morning to late evening. Please call for details.

We are pleased to be able to offer Pilates at our Twickenham premises. Chose from a one-to one session or a small class of no more than 3 people with Phillipa Jenner-Wales our popular Pilates expert. Or have fun in a larger class for Pilates-specific body conditioning and postural work with Jo.
